Sichuan Haihui Poverty Alleviation Center – Representative of Heifer in China
Sichuan Haihui Poverty Alleviation Service Center (Haihui) is a non-profit and non-government organization registered under Sichuan Provincial Department of Civil Affairs and administered by Sichuan Science & Technology Association. Haihui grew out of Heifer Project International China Office in 2008 and share same mission with Heifer.
Founded in 1944, Heifer Project International (HPI) is a world-wide non-profit organization for poverty alleviation and rural development. It is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. Owing to its fruitful development model for poverty alleviation and remarkable project impacts, Heifer International was the 2004 recipient of the Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize. Following the original tenet of “Not a Cup, But a Cow” announced by the founder of HPI, Mr. Dan West, Heifer International has assisted 1550 million needy families in 126 countries.
Since 1985, Heifer China cooperates with GO/NGO partners and communities closely. With the unique “Passing on the Gift” tenet and values-based holistic community development model, by providing income-generating animals as well as related training to impoverished families, Heifer China has endeavored to help them become self-reliant for community sustainable development.
Through 27 years efforts, Heifer China has helped more than 90 thousands of rural families get rid of poverty with great success in 132 counties of 16 provinces/Municipalities/autonomous Regions.
Sichuan Haihui Poverty Alleviation Center, on behalf of Heifer Project International, as the full representative of HPI in planning, implementing and managing rural poverty alleviation projects in China.
