天津大學建筑設計規劃研究總院由創建于1952年的天津大學建筑設計研究院與天津大學城市規劃設計研究院組合而成，是國家重點大學中**家具有甲級建筑設計、甲級城市規劃設計、甲級工程咨詢、甲級歷史文物建筑規劃設計、甲級旅游規劃等八項資質的總院設計機構。總院依托天津大學的人才優勢、學科優勢和技術優勢，憑借嚴謹的工作作風和良好的服務意識，近年來完成的各項建筑設計、城市規劃設計，在國內外各類設計競賽中屢獲殊榮，受到項目委托單位的好評。
總院現有一線設計人員近500人，其中45人為國家一級注冊建筑師，35人為國家一級注冊結構師，18人為國家注冊城市規劃師，博士9人，碩士178人。專業配套齊全，人員素質較高，總院在教育和科研建筑、旅游和療養建筑、辦公和商貿建筑以及大型醫院建筑，體育建筑設計和城市規劃、古建筑修繕保護規劃、深基坑支護以及建設項目策劃和可行性研究等方面都有不同凡響的建樹。
總院以“科研強院、效益大院、國際知名的設計機構”為發展目標，在“天津濱海新區”、“福建海西建設”、“遼寧沿海經濟帶”和“山東半島藍色經濟區”等國家發展戰略以及在四川震后重建中，憑借天大人的實力和天大人的胸懷，發揮了舉足輕重的作用。已完成的“北京光彩大廈（民生銀行總部）”、“山東威海甲午海戰館”、“天津美術學院美術館”、“天津市城市副中心西站地區規劃”、“天津市濱海新區響螺灣商務區城市設計”、“天津利順德大飯店復建項目”、“天津市大學生體育中心”、“中國寶雞青銅器博物院”、“福建泉州臺商投資區總體規劃”、“河北曹妃甸國際論壇永久會址”等數十項彪炳于世的重大項目，在國內外影響深遠。
總院近年來與多家設計機構展開了、多層次的國際合作。通過與美國RSP設計公司、德國KSP建筑設計事務所、日本日建設計株式會社、日本昭和設計株式會社等國際設計公司的強強聯合，成功躋身于國際知名設計機構的行列。
2012年，設計總院喜迎建院六十華誕。風雨六十載，設計筑恢弘，設計總院發展躍上了新的臺階，產值持續攀升，獲獎成倍增加，影響日益擴大，成為當代中國建筑設計百家名院之一。

Tianjin University Research Institute of Architectural Design & Urban Planning is a wholly owned company of Tianjin University, which has a hundred years of history. It is combination of the Architectural Design Research Institute of Tianjin University and the Urban Planning Design Research Institute of Tianjin University.
