珠海市**中學創辦于1960年8月，是廣東省首批省一級學校，全國首批現代教育技術實驗學校，廣東省首批國家級示范性普通高中，學校先后被評為“全國文明單位”、“全國精神文明建設先進單位”、“教育部首批依法治校示范校”、“教育部和諧校園先進學校”、“廣東省先進集體”、“廣東省職工職業道德先進單位”、“廣東省科技教育先進集體”、“廣東省安全文明學校”、首批“廣東省青少年科技教育特色學校”、廣東省首個“全國航空特色學校”、“廣東省書香校園”、“珠海市群眾滿意學校”等。

學校師資力量雄厚，設施完善，校風純樸，學風優良，環境典雅，是一所全面貫徹黨的教育方針，辦學成績卓著的普通高中。學校擁有一支以本科以上學歷為主，以高級教師為骨干的師資隊伍，教師共計278人，其中特級教師4人，高級教師127人，有碩士研究生學歷的88人，學校現有78個教學班，在校學生4300多人。

各級領導對學校關懷備至，黨和國家領導人、張德江等同志先后來我校視察工作，對我校的辦學給予了很高的評價。同時，作為特區對外開放的窗口學校，學校每年接待上千名全國各地的中學校長、港澳地區及國外教育界許多人士來校參觀訪問。
