Background InformationGeorge Clinical is the largest and most established of The George Institute's surplus generating enterprises. Since 1999, we have been supporting both the Institute and commercial biopharmaceutical companies with trial management services, becoming a separate legal entity in 2008. Almost 40% of Institute personnel are employed by George Clinical. To date, we have grown approximately 10% year on year.Our objectiveWe share the Institute's mission in improving the lives of millions of people worldwide. Our purpose is twofold:Generate and grow a surplus to finance the Institute's high impact work, creating a sustainable funding sourceProvide clinical trial management services for the Institutes' trials. About usWe are experienced clinical research professionals offering a full range of services to commercial Sponsors and for Institute led clinical trials. Our team offers in depth knowledge on clinical trial practice, management, processes and country regulations. We manage large, multi-country trials on time and on budget, using sophisticated systems. For Institute led trials, our resources are provided at cost, enabling the Institute to implement trials efficiently, and to international standards of quality and rigour.A large part of our work is within commercial drug development strategy and implementation. As clinical trial costs and complexity continue to escalate, commercial biopharmaceutical companies are looking for innovative ways to manage clinical trials, and to ensure that they address meaningful questions for clinicians and patients worldwide. George Clinical leverages the Institute's expertise in scientific development and leadership of quality clinical trials and combines this with efficient and robust trial management services. This is a unique offering that few other CROs can provide. It is affiliated with Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) in China, the University of Hyderabad in India and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. The George Institute for Global Health at Peking University Health Science Center is one of the four global centres of The George Institute for Global Health, which is located in Beijing. Building and coordinating a broad alliance between governments, universities, hospitals, and other research organizations across China, the Institute has become a leading health organization in China after years of development with over 70 full-time staff. It attracts numerous international and domestic visiting fellows and interns every year to participate in its research projects. The George Institute for Global Health at Peking University Health Science Center has four research programs - Hospital Care, Primary Care and Population Health, Diabetes Research, Biostatistics and Economic Evaluation - conducting research projects related to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, nephropathy, injury, community health, school health and health policy. With a special focus on the health issues affecting the population in China and the deficiencies of China’s health care system, the institute translates research outcomes into policy and practice, provides policy makers with effective, high-impact, and low-cost evidence, therefore to improve the performance of the system, and help address major health issues in China.
